Hi guys, I found an interesting sample when I was shopping at a thrift store in Palm Springs. This little guy labeled “Aznite".
It was only $4.99, and I wanted to see if I could do anything fun with it. I’ll keep you guys posted.

Me again,
Since Google couldn’t find anything about this material,
I started by chipping off a tiny corner for chemical analysis,
and was met by a brief emission of green light, and a few sparks‽
I think something is weird with this rock,
but I don’t know what yet.
I tried washing it in some 6.2M HCL, and the solution started turning green,
and a dark precipitate was forming. So obviously it contains some metals,
but I still need to figure out what. More info soon.

I kept trying to figure out the composition,
and found that it contains basic materials like copper, aluminum, quartz, and magnesium,
but somehow exhibits properties I thought otherwise impossible.
I did some more testing, this time checking the electrical resistance of it
(basically throwing tests at the wall to see what sticks at this point),
and found its resistance was extremely low.
Just as another qualitative test, I figured I should see what it does under a static electric field,
and to my surprise it started jittering.
In addition to this behavior, in one of my prior tests I found that this “Aznite”
happens to fluoresce under black light.
I don’t really have any further plans for this sample, but it sure will make a cool display piece!
(If anyone has any ideas whatsoever as to what this may be, please help!)
